"So it’s like writing 12 distinct little articles each time that must leave the reader feeling good about themselves."...I love ye Eric,,,but this is one reason astrology is still mired in ridicule.

Eric F Coppolino's avatar

I'm not seeing the "reason" or your reasoning.

donald lashley's avatar

tis the constant need to avoid telling the 'reader' about being a retard...

Eric F Coppolino's avatar

so please write me one such horoscope. Give it a whack. and here is what you must consider. Say you're writing for Aries. ALSO among Aries,

One got engaged that day

One got fired

One's cat got run over

Another got a promotion

Another was diagnosed with cancer.

What would you say to all five of those people?

Rogelio W., agent of the self's avatar

"April is the cruellest month, breeding

Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing

Memory and desire, stirring

Dull roots with spring rain."

From "The Waste Land" by T. S. Eliot

Those verses are an eternal horoscope for most Aries individuals.

i would mention that our Sun micro-Novas every 10-12,000 years...& it's been 12000 years since the last one...

Now, would you translate that to an idea to live by? Go for it.

Happy Anniversary, Eric!! What a long strange trip it's been…

On another note, as much as I appreciate your Astrology, I enjoy your insightful radio ramblings. It reminds me of “the good old days” when intelligent conversation could often be found along the radio dial.

Congrats on your fist 30 years.

I have a question: do you expect a big new discovery in the near future, like Eris? That planet had not been discovered in 1995.

Eric Francis Coppolino's avatar

Eris was 2005. There are constant discoveries; thousands a year. We are now well into a massive Kuiper Belt population and also there enough SDOs (in Sedna's class) to be able to have a sense what they are about astronomically. Most astrologers don't even have a handle on Chiron, much less Eris, so they don't really need anything else.

I don't expect anything that requires categorical changes — and Eris did not require that. It was Mike Brown who pushed his way through that conference in Prague in 2006 and forced the issue without a quorum present. He says he "killed Pluto." Mmm hmmm yeah sure.

I think that if a gas giant or ice giant is discovered to be orbiting the Sun in the Scattered Disk, that would be impressive. I have read that there is some evidence for its existence but it's not that strong.

Bear in mind that these things have little relevance to astrology the way that most astrologers practice. Their modest efforts would be better spent listening to their client's Chiron transits and helping in practical and spiritually grounded ways -- that alone is a significant challenge.

We have plenty of planets and categories of planets. Only about five of us can name most of them. What we need is astrologers who know how to listen, and work together on delineation. It's always the human factor that matters the most.

You might find this helpful. Note the human dimension. Note the milieu of sincere discovery and collaboration.

Congratulations Eric! Happy that you found your way to astrology writing all those years ago. Your work has been a great guide to me! Here's to 30 more years!

What a story, Eric! So glad you’re still doing Astrology! I discovered you through JC in 1995 and have been curious as to how you got your big break. Congrats to 30 years and going strong!🎉

Congratulations! I appreciate you and your work. Thank you!

Congratulations Eric! When I think 1995, I think about how the New York Knicks disappointed me as a teen, and then never watching pro sports again.

Eric F Coppolino's avatar

That sounds traumatic. Fortunately, my horoscope was born.

When did you sell the Knicks?

Roman S Shapoval's avatar

It was just too much emotion and felt like a waste of energy. Did you mean when did I "see" or "sell"?

Eric F Coppolino's avatar

I was pretending you were disappointed as their owner and sold the team.
