Aquarius and technology is a backformation. It comes from the discovery of Uranus in 1781 harkening the beginning of the electrical and industrial ages; Uranus is definitely that sigil. Next, Robert Cross Smith (1795-1832, the founding editor of Raphael's Ephemeris a/k/a Raphael I), assigned the rulership of Aquarius to Uranus. There was no basis for this assignment except intuitive.

Now, you can search this all you want. A.I. summary will say that Uranus was assigned to Aquarius by a kind of collective process and that for a long time Saturn was still held by nearly all astrologers to rule Aquarius. And, said Google's A.I., the issue is cemented in the 1970s by my old friend Louis Acker. However, I discussed this with Robert Hand some years ago, whom I would say is the definitive source on astrology history. And he said: It was Robert Cross Smith, Raphael I, who made that assignment (Uranus rules Aquarius). This is explicitly denied in an A.I. search.

That does not make RCS wrong, only arbitrary...and yes, modern astrologers collectively tried to move on from Saturn...but we may consider this. If you do not understand Saturn you do not understand Aquarius. If you do not understand Aquarius you do not understand Saturn. Saturn IN Aquarius is one of the strongest rulerships in all of traditional astrology.

So what am saying here is, "Uranus rules Aquarius" is a little like "Chiron rules Virgo." It does not; rulership is contained in the Table of Essential Dignities. But these are strong associations. Uranus is said to rule groups and so is Aquarius. One odd thing is that Uranus is said to be the revolutionary who innovates, disrupts and overthrows; in the myth, Uranus is the titan overthrown by his own children, principlally Kronos (Saturn).

He is not the replacement for Saturn; Saturn replaces him. As the story goes, he is castrated and his testicles are thrown into the sea...and from the sea, Venus emerges as yet another child. So here we have this unusual origin of the eminently feminine love goddess Venus, made and born from dismembered male parts.

That said, I believe that Geoffrey Cornelius uses modern rulers in The Moment of Astrology. However, for horary, absolute consistency is required so you can verify your results from case to case, and I prefer to stick to traditional for as long as possible. In other words, my consistent method is: do the horary using only traditional planets and try to work it out. Then I go to the modern planets; they go to the minor planets. I cound Chiron and Eris as among the modern planets.

As for the power of Saturn in Aquarius To wit: The lockdown.

also -- a lot of inventors were born with Aquarius Sun ... but for ex Marshall McLuhan, Nicola Tesla and Buckminster Fuller were born with Cancer Sun...

for posterity here is the first A.I. response; in the follow up I questioned it about Robert Cross Smith. Sorry this formatting is messy.

The astrological sign of Aquarius became associated with technology primarily due to its modern ruling planet, Uranus, which is the planet of innovation, sudden change, and the future. This association emerged with the discovery of Uranus in the late 18th century, which coincided with major technological and social shifts.

Here's a breakdown of how the association developed:

• Discovery of Uranus: Uranus was discovered in 1781 by William Herschel, a time that also marked the American and French Revolutions and the height of the Industrial Revolution. Astrologers began to associate Uranus with these disruptive, revolutionary events and the themes of freedom, democracy, and radical change they represented.

• Planetary Rulership: In modern astrology, Uranus was assigned as the co-ruler (with Saturn, the traditional ruler) of Aquarius. This linked the characteristics of the planet directly to the sign.

• Uranian Attributes: Uranus is associated with a range of innovative and forward-thinking concepts:

• Innovation and Invention: Uranus is considered the "Great Awakener," governing insights, intellect, and inventions, particularly those related to electricity and electronics.

• Future and Progress: The planet and the sign are linked to forward-thinking, nonconformist energy, and a desire to challenge the status quo for humanity's evolution.

• Air Element: Aquarius is an air sign, which in astrology relates to intellectual pursuits, communication, and new ideas, further complementing the mental and innovative aspects of technology.

• The "Age of Aquarius": The concept of the "Age of Aquarius" - an astrological age associated with a new era of consciousness, community, and advanced technology - has also reinforced this connection in popular culture and New Age thought.

Therefore, the association stems not from ancient mythology (where Aquarius is the water bearer), but from the timing of the discovery of its ruling planet and the modern attributes astrologers assigned to Uranus in the context of global advancements.

Aquarius ♒️ symbolised by the water bearer.

Water was the common focal point of human communities. (Hexagram 48 - The Well).

As complexity multiplied, electricity has supplanted the common focal point of human communities.

Group focus is now immersed within the manipulation of electrical energy.

I think of Aquarius and patterns together. Much of the early coding and technology was all about patterns. I have always looked for patterns in all aspects of my life because they are often predictive. I recall being given aptitude tests for roles in technology and coding many years ago and I scored very high with suggestions that I should seek a career in technology.

This is one of the reasons I associate Aquarius and technology. BTW, I am an Aquarius sun sign.

I don't go with the "flow." Is it? Don't get me wrong, I love your poetic sensibility, but I love the detective in you even more.

Because you've shown that at times you are capable of breaking with the concensus and seeing what is actually in front of you. Water is said to have "current" or "being of the present time." Our body is electromagnetic. Every signal our brain sends out is through electromagnetic signals. He wasn't the first, but many decades ago, Robert O. Becker, M.D. observed and did much of the detective work re: the health impact of environmental electromagnetic energy. He also wrote about the current state of systems intended to control "emergencies;" /control "cityzenry" Made into law by Clinton administration.

Just as "911" was less the "new pearl harbor" but rather more the "new Hiroshima' twenty-five years ago, where through the power of suggestion we were told what we were supposed to "see," rather than what we might have observed if we hadn't been so well conditioned not to, and thus, to look freshly around, and observe as coldly as a camera what had happened there, rather than follwing our herd instincts. We might have recognized the new paradym then, as well as, how well this Amerika keeps its secrets. Perhaps now, the US having found a worthy opponent with the recent announcment of unstoppable russian weapons delivery systems, it will be forced to show the cards its been concealing so far in this century in the name of "detente"? We'll have to go with the flow, won't we? She said, 'Know what it is that Know that you Know." https://www.drjudywood.com/wp/
