20th Anniversary of Pluto’s Demotion is Upon Us

Dear Friend and Reader:

This week’s Planet Waves readings are based on the Aug. 28 lunar eclipse in Pisces, though my article (sent separately) is about the demotion of Pluto in 2006 — an event now at its 20th anniversary.

Once considered a ridiculous joke, the demotion of Pluto took place in Prague on Aug. 24, 2006. Technically, this was the reclassification of Pluto into minor planet (134340) Pluto. Number 10000 had been reserved, but that did not work out for some reason.

Someone more familiar with astrology publishing than I am, please tell me: is anyone else covering this? Has anyone even mentioned it? Does anyone even remember? It is for this reason that I’m proud to publish Planet Waves. We tend to go where nobody else is paying attention.

At the time, Planet Waves mocked the decision with the article Astronomers Declare Earth Not a Planet.

Based on the then-new astronomical definition of “planet,” that actually turned out out to be true. According to the 2006 guidelines, Earth does not qualify.

And there you have it — trust the science! Tony Fauci must have been on that committee.

with love,

Starcast Notes

Here is a very cool page from the Planet Waves archive that I did not know we even have. It includes the late 2012 series that will give you my sense of what was happening at the time; and it contains the article Stating the Ominous: Silent Spring at 50. I will go through those articles on at a time and life the paywall; the Silent Spring piece is now free.

I use the publication of this book to describe the nascent awareness of “the environment” just ahead of Sedna entering Taurus (for the next 60 years).

We are now in the very early days of Sedna in Gemini, which is about the mental environment (which we don’t admit exists); and the mental environment is stitched into the digital environment and the digital environment now has the equivalent of a factory pumping out lethal doses of the mental and intellectual toxin known as “artificial intelligence.”

If you’re involved in the Astrology Student Union, please add your comments below. Learning astrology (or anything) is not about passive listening. It’s about being an active and engaged part of your world. Thank you.
